How the PTO Works

What keeps the YG experiences families love possible, year after year.

Hi, YG families and staff.

A few people have asked what the PTO actually does, and if you’re new to Yujin Gakuen or the PTO, it’s a fair question. The short version is: a lot of the things families think of as part of the YG experience happen because families and staff work together through the PTO.

That includes Oshogatsu and Kodomo no Hi, family meetups and school-community events, staff appreciation, classroom and cultural materials, intern support, field trip funding, volunteer coordination, and fundraisers like the UO football booth.

The important part is that the PTO is not a separate group of people providing all of those things to everyone else. The PTO is the structure families and staff use to make them happen together.

None of it happens automatically. Every year, we have to raise the money again. Every event, we have to find the people again. These things continue because enough families choose, every year, to help keep them going.

That does not mean every family needs to do everything. You do not need to chair a committee, attend every meeting, or reorganize your life around the PTO. Sometimes helping means carrying folding tables, bringing supplies, helping on the day of an event, donating when time is scarce, sharing an idea, or staying connected until something genuinely fits your family.

When we say “Join the PTO,” we mean: get connected. Know what is happening, what needs people, what needs funding, and where your family might be able to help.

We’re glad you’re here. There is a place for you in this community.
