一緒に · Plan together

Help us plan what happens at YG.

Festivals, gardens, volunteers, budgets, events—none of it arrives fully assembled. Somebody has to have the idea, figure out the details, make the list, find the extension cords, and decide how much food 400 people are actually going to eat.

That’s committee work. It means helping decide what happens before it happens.

Want to help figure it out? You’re in the right place. Want a defined job once the plan already exists? See current volunteer openings.

Help us build Oshogatsu.

The committee figures out what the festival will actually look like: which activities return, what new ideas we should try, food, decorations, cultural traditions, room layouts, volunteer jobs, signs, supplies, and all the decisions between ‘we’re having Oshogatsu’ and several hundred people walking through the doors.

Festival planning

Kodomo no Hi Committee

Our spring festival needs planners.

Help decide what families will do, see, make, and learn at Kodomo no Hi. The committee works through activities, decorations, supplies, cultural programming, layout, family participation, and everything we need to turn the spring festival into an actual plan.

Finance Committee

PTO raises and spends a lot of money. The Finance Committee reviews our numbers, works through budget questions, looks ahead at major expenses, and helps make sure our spending matches what members want PTO to accomplish.

Good spreadsheet brain? Budget brain? “Wait, why are we spending that much on this?” brain? Useful here.

Volunteer Committee

There are a lot of people willing to help at YG. The hard part is getting the right number of them to the right place with the right information. This committee works on that problem: signups, staffing plans, volunteer communication, check-in, instructions, and the systems that keep five people from showing up for a job that needs twenty.

Garden Committee

Help keep YG growing. The Garden Committee takes care of the school garden and helps turn outdoor spaces into places kids can plant, dig, notice things, learn things, and occasionally become extremely invested in a worm. There’s planting, maintenance, seasonal cleanup, outdoor classroom projects, and plenty of dirt.

Don’t see your thing?

Tell us what you’re interested in or what you’re good at. There are always projects that don’t fit neatly into one committee, and sometimes we just need the person who knows how to do the oddly specific thing nobody else does.
