Obon Dancing

Obon dancing, or Bon Odori, is a Japanese summer tradition that brings communities together to honor ancestors through music and simple group dances.

Learning the dances is a fun way to participate in Japanese culture, connect with others, and feel more comfortable joining local Obon celebrations.

Do I need dance experience?

No! The dances are repetitive and designed for everyone to join.

What if I’m not Japanese?

You are still welcome to participate. Obon dancing is about community, remembrance, and sharing tradition. Come ready to learn, follow the instructors, and participate respectfully.

What should I wear?

Any comfortable clothing and shoes that are easy to move in are perfect!
